The primary audience for this course is:

  • Individuals who are required to configure an MGX media gateway including those responsible for network operations, network provisioning, network maintenance, and systems engineering.

The secondary audience for this course is:

  • Individuals who are required to plan and design packet voice networks including those responsible for network planning, capacity planning, and network design

Pré-requis

  • WAN Quick Start guide— Prior to starting this course the learner should have completed the WAN Quick Start guide including all necessary reading and activities as defined in the guide.
  • Basic networking concepts—Most of the required networking concepts are discussed in the WAN Quick Start guide. Other concepts include knowledge of basic digital communications and using computers or workstations on a LAN.
  • Binary and hexadecimal numbering—During this course data structure (packet, frame, and cell) fields are described using binary or hexadecimal numbers.
  • Basic knowledge of the public switched telephone network (PSTN) technology and operation, and/or basic knowledge of mobile wireless networks.

Objectifs de la formation

The High-Density Media Gateway Configuration and Operation (HMGCO) course version 1.5 is a lecture-lab course focusing on the implementation of the MGX 8880 and MGX 8850-PXM45 Media Gateways (MGX-MG), based upon the Voice Switch Service Module (VXSM) in both switched VoIP and VoAAL2 trunking applications.
