The Poly Video Intermediate - Group Series course is an in-depth technical e-learning course, designed to provide practical instruction and technology theory overview to address the technical aspects of deploying, operating and supporting Polycom Group Series devices. The course consists of 12 elearning modules and is specifically aimed at providing field ready skills and operational ability to video network installation engineers, endpoint operators and administrators.

Objectifs

On successful completion of the Poly Endpoints Technical course, the student will demonstrate theoretical understanding and a practical ability in:

  • Explaining typical video conferencing techniques and protocols
  • Installing, configuring and operating endpoint videoconferencing systems
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining endpoint videoconferencing systems

Contenu

MODULE 1 – PURPOSE AND FUNCTION

  • Explain why Video Conferencing is more effective than audio alone
  • Describe the main characteristics of a video conference
  • Explain the function of a codec
  • Explain the difference between a codec and an endpoint

MODULE 2 – SELECTION AND IMPLEMENTATION

  • Identify the key characteristics of Polycom Group Series Codecs, and describe the physical differences between them
  • Describe how the software operates on each type and how it changes with the functional differences between the different codecs
  • Describe some of the packaged solutions, including Medialign and Centro

MODULE 3 – OPTION KEYS AND SOFTWARE LICENSES

  • Define the purpose of an Option Key and explain when it should be used
  • Define the purpose of an Upgrade Key and explain when it should be used
  • Identify a codec’s serial number
  • Register for an account and sign-in on the Polycom Support website
  • Identify and locate appropriate software for Group Series codecs and peripherals
  • Locate technical documentation for Group Series products
  • Obtain an Option Key and a Software Upgrade Key for a Group Series codec

MODULE 4 - UNBOXING

  • Explain the steps required to install a Group Series codec
  • Unbox a Group Series codec and retrieve essential components
  • Locate and download installation documentation
  • Install a Group Series and connect all relevant peripherals
  • Perform out-of-box setup wizard for initial codec configuration
  • Complete system setup, test and sign-off

MODULE 5 – FACTORY RESET AND REPLACEMENT

  • Explain the purpose of a Factory Restore and identify affected configurations.
  • Backup the codec’s profile and local directory
  • Create a USB key to load required software
  • Perform a Factory Restore of a Group Series codec

MODULE 6 – SYSTEM OPERATION AND CONFIGURATION

  • Wake an endpoint and check readiness
  • Setup a call using manual dialing and using contacts/address book
  • Adjust the audio and video during a call, including camera control and presets
  • Add and manage content in a call
  • Disconnect a call
