Cisco announcing the new CCNA Voice, CCVP and CCSP certifications

Today, 19th October 2010, Cisco is announcing important changes in the CCNA Voice, CCVP and CCSP certifications with major course updates as well as new course introductions. These revisions/introductions reflect a focus on ‘job role’ objectives rather than ‘product features’ as earlier certifications incorporated.

From CCVP to CCNP Voice
Cisco renews the complete Cisco Voice Associate and Professional certifications to Cisco Collaboration v8.0. A name change goes along with these important updates: ‘CCVP’ is now named CCNP Voice.

New CCNA Voice Course
!Introducing Cisco Voice and Unified Communications Administration (ICOMM 8)
640-461 ICOMM v8.0
The 5-day ICOMM course has replaced the IIUC course. The ICOMM course teaches you how to maintain and operate a Cisco Unified Communications solution that is based on Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, Cisco Unity Connection, and Cisco Unified Presence.

New CCNP Voice Courses
!Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Voice over IP and QoS (CVOICE 8)
642-437 CVOICE v8.0
The 5-day CVOICEv8.0 course has replaced the CVOICEv6.0 course, with the new course based on Cisco Collaboration v8.0 as the most important course update. Topics from the QOS course have been integrated into the new CVOICE course. Note: the QOS course and exam will not be retired. The QOS exam remains a qualifying exam for other Cisco certifications.

!Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 1 (CIPT1 8)
642-447 CIPT1 v8.0
The 5-day CIPT1v8.0 course has replaced the CIPT1v6.0 course, with the new course based on Cisco Collaboration v8.0 as the most important course update.

!Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 2 (CIPT2 8)
642-457 CIPT2 v8.0
The 5-day CIPT2v8.0 course has replaced the CIPT2v6.0 course, with the new course based on Cisco Collaboration v8.0 as the most important course update.

!Troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications (TVOICE 8)
642-427 TVOICE v8.0
The 5-day TVOICE course has replaced the TUC course, with the new course based on Cisco Collaboration v8.0 as the most important course update.

!Integrating Cisco Unified Communications Applications (CAPPS 8)
642-467 CAPPS v8.0
The 5-day CAPPS course is a completely new course that teaches you the integration options of Cisco Unified Presence, Cisco Unity Express, and Cisco Unity Connection with Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

Cisco renews the complete Cisco Security Professional certification with the introduction of 4 new courses. A name change goes along with these course introductions: ‘CCSP’ is now named CCNP Security.

!Deploying Cisco ASA Firewall Features (FIREWALL)
642-647 FIREWALL v1.0
The 5-day FIREWALL course and the VPN course together have replaced the SNAF and SNAA courses. With the introduction of the FIREWALL course the ASA/FIREWALL topics from the SNAF and SNAA courses have now been combined in just one course.

!Deploying Cisco ASA VPN Solutions (VPN)
642-617 VPN v1.0
The 5-day VPN course and the FIREWALL course together have replaced the SNAF and SNAA courses. With the introduction of the VPN course the VPN topics from the SNAF and SNAA courses have now been combined in just one course.

!Implementing Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS 7)
642-627 IPS v7.0
The 5-day IPSv7.0 course has replaced the 4-day IPSv6.0 course.

!Securing Networks with Cisco Routers and Switches (SECURE)
642-637 SECURE v1.0
The 5-day SECURE course has replaced the SNRS course. The new SECURE course aims at providing network security engineers with the knowledge and skills needed to secure networks, and provide security services based on Cisco IOS Software.

Both the CANAC and MARS courses remain unchanged. The current courses and exams can be used for CCSP certification until 2011.
